Homeschool Days September 12 & 13; 10am - 5pm

The Roscoe Village Foundation is partnering with the Canal Boat Landing and the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum to host Home School Days on Thursday and Friday, September 12th and 13th. The Visitor Center will be open both days, 10:00am to 5:00pm. You may purchase your tickets at the main desk on the second floor, receive a map, see the dioramas, do Hands-On Canal Era crafts and view “Ditches of Destiny” in the Theater.

There will be costumed interpreters/crafters in the Living History buildings on the Canal Town Journey tour.   SMELL the coal burning at the Village Smithy, SEE how broomcorn was fashioned into brooms,  VISIT the Doctor's office, kitchen pantry and house, WRITE on a slate at the one-room school and HEAR the click of the weaver's loom as she makes cloth out of yarn.

You will also want to visit the nationally accredited Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum (12pm - 4pm).  The Museum has four permanent exhibit galleries: American Indian, Historic Ohio, Decorative Arts and East Asian. A fifth gallery displays temporary exhibits that range in topics from art to history.

No trip to Roscoe Village is complete without a relaxing cruise along a 1 1/2 mile stretch of canal in the horse-drawn Monticello III Canal boat. Part of the Lake Park Recreational Complex, the forty-five minute ride allows your family to experience this four mile per hour mode of early transportation. The canal boat captain entertains the passengers with tales of life on the canal during its 1830's heyday.
